Loyola and St. Francis de Sales Parish Rosary Procession
Loyola and St. Francis de Sales Parish celebrated the 100th Anniversary of the October 1917 apparition of Our Lady of Fatima on Sunday, October 1st with a rosary procession and devotion at Loyola Retreat House.
Dottie Presnar opened the celebration with a warm welcome and introduction. Pastor Father G. David Bline and Parochial Vicar Father Jacob Bearer led the recitation of the rosary, while Deacon Ray Herrick and Deacon Richard Butz led a procession on the grounds. About 100 men, women, and children were in attendance. Resident Chaplain Abbot Clement Zeleznik, O.S.B. prayed the Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary prayer. Corey Sees thanked everyone for attending and invited them to stay for a cider and doughnut Social immediately following the rosary.
St. Augustine said, “He who sings prays twice.” Mrs. Colleen McVicker and the Music Ministry of St. Francis de Sales Parish did just that! They lifted our spirits and glorified God through their gift of song with beautiful renditions of traditional Marian hymns, such as “Immaculate Mary” and “O Most Holy One.” “As I Kneel before You,” composed by Maria Parkinson, was also included in their selection.
If you were unable to attend Loyola’s event, it’s not too late to commemorate the 100 Anniversary of Our Lady of Fatima at local parishes. Queen of Heaven Parish, located at 1800 Steese Road in Green, invite you to attend an Outdoor Rosary Procession (weather permitting) on Thursday, October 12th at 7:00 p.m. Rev. Robert Jasamy of St. John Nepomucene Church will be the guest speaker.
In order to fulfill the Five First Saturday Devotion requested by Our Lady of Fatima during this centennial year of the apparitions, St. Francis de Sales Parish, located at 4019 Manchester Road in Akron, will pray the Rosary together after the 8:15 morning Mass on Saturday, October 7.
All of the faithful of the diocese are invited to join Bishop Nelson J. Perez in a special Mass celebrating the closing of the anniversary celebration of the apparitions of the Blessed Mother at Fatima, Portugal in 1917. The Mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning, October 7th at 10:00 in St. John Cathedral, located at 1007 Superior Avenue E, in downtown Cleveland. Parking is available in the surface lot behind the Cathedral.
