A Window to Heaven: An Introductory Icon Retreat July 30-August 4, 2023

July 30 @ 3:00 pm - August 4 @ 2:00 pm

$600
  • « Encounter with Silence, June 2023
  • Pre-Cana Day: September 10, 2023, $90 »

An Introductory Icon Retreat:

Paint a Byzantine style icon with us! We are offering a creative retreat for those who want to learn icon painting, regardless of artistic experience or spiritual background. We will use traditional duck egg tempera pigments and gold leaf on a traditionally gessoed wooden board panel. You may select either Archangel Michael or Gabriel as your icon to take home. The icon will be fully completed about one month after the retreat when we gather to “anoint” and seal it with traditional oils.

The retreat includes time for instruction in the tradition and meaning of icon writing, creation of the icon itself, time for personal reflection, daily Mass, prayer and fellowship. Simply bring your creativity, an open mind, and a willingness to let the Spirit move!
