An Invitation to Retreat
A Journey
is perhaps the best way to describe the experience of a person's
lifetime approach to God. To describe Spiritual living in terms of
travel is to capture the sense of adventure, mystery, and discovery that
accompanies the pilgrim. The word JOURNEY embraces all the
uncertainty of departure and arrival, all the anxiety of weary travel
even in this day of high-tech transportation.
Masters of
the spiritual life have spoken of the task of pursuing holiness in terms
of a desert experience; they have compared it to mountain climbing,
living in different rooms of a mansion, and journeying down a path.
They sometimes call spirituality the journey inward.
Whatever
the figure of speech, this mystical itinerary has always as it's goal,
union with the Father. As with any other journeys of human
experience, spirituality is a journey toward someone, not just
somewhere. Prayer and spirituality are journeys to the Father.
A RETREAT
is a time set aside for special concern about our journey to the Father.
It is a time for reflection from two points of reference: Where am
I now? And where do I wish to go?
It is a
time set aside for new awareness that no one makes this journey alone.
The family around us, our relatives and friends, people in our
neighborhood and across town... in fact the global family makes this
journey together.
I hope you
will find a retreat or program that suits you as you continue on your
journey. We welcome you to Loyola and invite you to
come... rest awhile and retreat in the peacefulness that is Loyola.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Elizabeth
